Waffa and Wasan live with their younger brother and parents in mosul, still one of the most dangerous cities in Iraq. Their father, Adel, works as an accountmanager in Tikrit where it is now relatively safe. He sees his family for about three days each month. They are in Kurdistan for a few days for his mother’s eye operation. And to enjoy safety. ‘My children never go outside. Going to the park or playground is much too dangerous. There’s violence every day. The war in Mosul is till in full swing.’
